Track 06 Notes

I can't believe I've finished through track 06. o_o This is a MAJOR accomplishment for me!! I'd like to thank each and every one of you for sticking with my manga for so long!! I hope you'll all contiue on to track 07, and all of the future installments of "The Way to Your Heart!"
As for notes, there's a bit of a "translation issue" I need to address. As we all know, this manga takes place in Japan and, ideally, all of the dialogue and thoughts of the characters should be thought of as if they were in Japanese. However, I'm a native English speaker choosing to create this manga in English, even though the setting and everything about it is totally Japanese. I have a good understanding of the Japanese language (and my fiance is Japanese, coincidently), and some aspects of the language and culture can't be translated to English very smoothly. The biggest problem I've faced with this came about in track 06 as Toshio and Yumi both said the phrase, "I love you." In the English-speaking mind we might think, "well that was sure fast!!" since the two have only known each other a few days. But, considering if this manga were actually written in Japanese, what Toshio and Yumi would actually be saying is "daisuki desu," which means "I like you a lot." Making them say "I love you" was my choice, even though it isn't a true "translation." I thought that "I like you a lot" was long, and kind of lost the power of the emotions.
SMOKING TOSHIO!!!!! GAAAAAAH!!!!!!! >_< It was so weird for me to draw a cigarette in that boy's mouth. I just wanted to illustrate how Yumi could be a force for good on others, and I figured making someone quit smoking was an obvious and direct way to show that. I want her to be a catalyst for good things to happen in other peoples' lives. I just love Yumi for that reason!
I also LOVED being able to show another aspect of Miyabi! That scene between Miyabi and Sayaka just touches my heart every time I think about it. The two have gone through a lot of hard things since their mother died, and their bond is very strong because of it. I'm going to go further into that later in the story, so I hope everyone looks forward to it!!
Ending track 06 the way I did was sort of a spur of the moment inspiration that I decided to just go with. Originally, I was going to end it with Toshio and Yumi embracing, with the word "Always" all floaty and pretty... but then Kazuki came back into my mind. ^_^ Plus I thought it added quite a nice teaser for track 07. Also, I REALLY missed drawing Kazuki... he's so cute. ^^ Anyway, let's get on with track 07!
