Message in a Bottle
By Emily Muto
I created this comic in early 2005 and submitted it to TOKYOPOP's 5th Rising Stars of Manga competition. Even though it wasn't chosen as a winner, the experience of creating it under the pressure of a deadline was fun and challenging!
ABOUT: The waves washed something unusual onto Jenny's beach; a message from across the Pacific. It reached out and called to her, and she knew she must answer its request...

INSPIRATIONS:
I'm a huge visual kei/J-rock fan. Therefore, Minoru's look was mostly inspired by Yomi from the band Nightmare. A little bit of Sakito was thrown in too, but mostly it was Yomi I based him on!
I got the idea for this manga when I heard a news report about a boy in France (I believe it was) who received a message in a bottle that had been sent out by a girl along the east coast of the United States. After that, I toyed around with the idea and eventually came up with this!
